What We Believe

GOD

South Fork Outdoorsmen Church worships one God who has revealed Himself to us in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in full unity, the Trinity.

“Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!” (Deuteronomy 6:4) NASB

“Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”( Psalm 90:2) NASB

“Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: `I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me.” (Isaiah 44:6) NASB

A. The Father

“If I (Jesus) glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God’” (John 8:54) NASB

“…to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 1:7) NASB

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. (John 15:1) NASB

“Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, ‘Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.’” (John 17:1-2) NASB

B. The Son

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God…And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1,14) NASB

“For He (God) delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. And He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation.” (Colossians 1:13-15) NASB

C. The Spirit

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17) NASB

“But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.’” (Acts 5:3) NASB

“For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:10) NASB
THE BIBLE

The Bible, complete with the Old and New Testament, is the only source of God’s special revelation to people. There are no other divinely given books. We believe that it is verbally inspired by God to the original writers and has been divinely protected without any errors. It is the infallible rule of our faith and practice.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (II Timothy 3:16-17) NASB

“But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God”. (II Peter 1:20-21) NASB
SALVATION

South Fork Outdoorsmen Church agrees with Scripture’s teaching that as a result of the fall in the Garden of Eden (Gen 3), all men are born with a sin nature inherited from Adam. As a result, all people without Christ stand guilty of sin (Rom 3:23). Romans 6:23 teaches that the penalty for sin (of any “degree”) is death but that God has offered to man the free gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ. This salvation is given to man when he understands that there is nothing that he can do within himself to gain eternal life and trusts with his entire person that Jesus is Lord and has purchased his righteousness by bearing the sin of the world on the cross. Such saving faith will inevitably result in the growing demonstration of the fruit of the Spirit described in Galatians 5.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) NASB

“You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. Behold, You were angry, for we sinned, We continued in them a long time; And shall we be saved? For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. There is no one who calls on Your name, Who arouses himself to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us And have delivered us into the power of our iniquities.” (Isaiah 64:5-7) NASB

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) NASB

“For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.” (I Peter 3:18) NASB

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Cor. 5:21) NASB

“…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) NASB
